This is recent news regarding Medicare Supplements Plan C and Plan F. I have been attempting to keep up on the future of the plans, so that my clients know that if they want Plan F, or think they may one day want it, that they will want to get it before 2020. You may have read about the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) and its impact on Medicare supplement insurance plans C and F in 2020. Here is information about two key components of the law to help you understand what is changing and what is not:
- Anyone eligible for Medicare prior to January 1, 2020 (56 million Medicare eligible consumers) will be able to keep their plans and will continue to be able to enroll in Medicare supplement insurance plans C and F, if they choose.
- Anyone newly eligible for Medicare beginning January 1, 2020, will not be able to purchase Medicare supplement insurance plans C or F. Regulations are still in development.
